VO2 Max Testing
What is VO2 Max?
VO2 Max is the maximum rate of oxygen consumption that can be reached during incremental exercise.
As the athletes exercise intensity rises, their oxygen consumption will increase as well. There is a specific point during maximal exercise when your oxygen consumption plateaus, this marks VO2 Max. An athlete can use these test results to make improvements by increasing their Anaerobic Threshold (AT) and maintaining that threshold which will enhance both endurance and cardiovascular performance.
How can VO2 Max Testing benefit you?
The results from VO2 Max testing will identify the precise target heart rate
that will guide an athlete to train and exercise more effectively and perform
at ultimate capacity. VO2 Max retesting will help to monitor training
programs progression. The information you will gain from testing include:
- VO2 Max
- Anaerobic threshold
- Calories burned during exercise
- Calories burned at rest (with additional RMR Test)
- Custom designed workout zones
- Respiratory Quotient
Resting Metabolic Rate Measurement (RMR)
Individually or in addition to VO2 Max testing, Resting Metabolic Rate Measurement
uses oxygen consumed at rest to determine one’s caloric requirements for various reasons.
Data from VO2 and RMR testing provides our Sports Performance Specialists
and clinicians with the information they need to better create individualized
and unique training programs and treatment plans.
