COVID-19 may have sports on a bit of a hiatus these days, however injuries are still occurring and the need for recovery is still vital. Raleigh Orthopaedic Performance Center offers numerous cash-based services to help with your recovery needs.
These out of pocket services do not count against your physical therapy visit count, rather are used to augment your therapy or used as a stand alone service. Sold as individual sessions or as packages, you may find that our services are just the right fit for your routine.
HyperIce
Percussion therapy has gained traction in recent months with the ability to relieve muscle soreness, muscular stiffness, improvement of range of motion, promotion of circulation and accelerating warmup and post exercise recovery. The interchangeable heads include options such as the bullet, fork, round, cushion and flat heads which can be used on both the upper and lower extremities, including hard to reach places such as the upper back. This lightweight, powerful, and easy to use design has adjustable speeds and is able to be used on the go as it is cordless and chargeable.
Lightforce Laser Therapy
Our FDA cleared deep tissue laser therapy uses photo-bio-stimulation to treat both acute and chronic conditions and post surgical pain. It is non-invasive and can be used in conjunction with exercise treatments, medication and additional modality treatment. Each treatment session is tailored with specific criteria to meet your needs. Treatments last between 5-10 minutes depending on the body part and condition being treated. This therapy is administered directly to the skin using different hand pieces (trigger point, hover and rollerball) and warmth may be felt during the treatment. Following a laser therapy session, there is an 18-24 hour period of modulated cell activity that leads to a decrease in pain and inflammation, therefore benefits may be seen after the treatment is complete.
IASTM
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization tools are used to “scrape” your skin using a lubricant to decrease friction and a specifically designed stainless steel tool. The purpose of these tools are to improve blood flow, circulation, break up scar tissue/adhesions, reduce inflammation and promote musculoskeletal healing. These tools are beneficial post surgery (once incisions are healed) to reduce scar tissue formation, increase range of motion and promote flexibility of certain areas on the body. The various shaped tools can be used on soft tissue throughout the entire body, including muscles and tendons.
Dry Needling
Dry needling involves thin, non-medicated needles which are inserted into a specific area of sensitive tissue in the body. Dry needling is used to help myofascial trigger points in various areas in the upper and lower extremities, to treat chronic pain, and stiffness. Common areas in the body which respond well to needling include the low back, shoulder/cervical spine, hamstrings, calves, and quadriceps musculature. Issues which respond to needling can be caused by chronic conditions, overtraining, functional tightness or weakness. Dry Needling interrupts reflex cycles in the muscle tissue that can cause continual tightness and spasm in the body. The tiny needle induces micro lesions that signal the brain to initiate a sequence of events to replace or repair the damaged tissue. Dry needling involves various techniques, including static and trigger point needling. Your therapist will perform a brief, comprehensive screen prior to treatment to individualize your treatment to your needs.
Normatec Recovery Boots
These multi-chamber boots, used for both the upper and lower extremities, maximize patient recovery using their PULSE Massage Pattern which utilizes dynamic compression (pulsing), distal release and gradient technologies. Normatec boots help speed your recovery by increasing circulation and range of motion, lessening pain sensitivity, improving an individual’s endothelial function, clearing metabolities passively from the body and decreasing sore muscles after exercise. Boots are commonly used by endurance athletes and pro athletes in various sports to enhance the movement of fluid and metabolities out of the limbs after an intense workout.
